Our Mission
- Cultivate skilled professionals to tackle Nevada’s substantial shortage of Information Technology (IT) labor
- Equip individuals with sought-after competencies, filling the skills gap in tech firms
- Establish a pathway for underrepresented minority and female students, combating IT stereotypes and fostering diversity and accessibility
Our Training
The program maps out training against the national IT Competency Model and includes preparation in three tiers: Foundational Competencies that focus on employability skills that are generally needed in the workplace
Technical Competencies that are core to the IT industry allowing workers to move easily across industry sub-sectors and Job-related Competencies that tie to specific jobs which will be obtained through internship
1. Technical Competencies
Core technical competencies that are crucial in the IT industry. Having these core competencies allows workers fluidity to easily transition across the various IT industry sub-sectors.
2. Functional Competencies
Foundational competencies that focus on skills that make students employable and desirable in the field of IT.
3. Job-related Competencies
This program aims to place students in a structured paid internship to gain occupational competencies tied to specific jobs.

The UNLV IT Workforce Talent Pipeline prepares Tech Ready Rebels with desired skill sets and credentials to advance to higher education and/or obtain employment in the field of Information Technology by offering a year-long accelerated experiential learning and comprehensive support for high school juniors and seniors

Criteria of Eligibility
- Must be currently enrolled as a junior or senior in any Nevada high schools
- Have enrolled in the Information Technology Career Cluster or taken at least one IT-related coursework
- 2.0 unweighted grade point average (GPA) or higher
